Joel Tindalon Bruno was born in Malaysia. He is the 1st prize winner of Euroasia Piano Competition 2021 and the 1st prize winner of Borneo Performing Arts Festival 2013 in piano, modern higher-level category when he was 14 years old.
Joel started his piano studies at the age of 7 and was active in performing piano solo performances, school choir, school band and even orchestras when he was growing up. In 2017, he was admitted to Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) where he studied Diploma in Music, majoring in Classical piano. He was under the tutelage of Dr. Goh Yen Lin for two and a half years. He had participated in a masterclass by Prof. Alexandra Nguyen from the University of Colorado at Boulder and also took part in the 3rd International Music and Performing Arts Conference (2018). Upon receiving his Diploma in 2019, Joel was invited to perform and present at a piano clinic organized by House of Music Arts in Sabah, Malaysia alongside a Malaysian award-winning artist, Arddley Nicholas whom himself is a pianist and a succesful singer.
In the past, he had taken part in several piano competitions including Singapore International Piano Competition 2020 - Malaysia Regional Competition, and the 21st and 22nd Kota Kinabalu Music Festival. Joel was awarded an "Outstanding award" by UCSI University in Malaysia after his participation in the UCSI National Music competition in May 2022. Besides performing as a soloist, Joel is also active in taking part in choral performances and competitions as an accompanist and as a singer. In 2019, he had taken part in the 16th Choral Eisteddfod International Choir Competition in Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC) as an accompanist, where the group was awarded a Gold medal. He also took part at the First National Virtual Choir Competition 2021 as a singer.
Apart from studying formal classical music studies, Joel had also worked with organizations in Kuala Lumpur that support parent-child bonding through musical activities. Recently, he had worked with Dr. Indra Selvarajah, a music therapist from University of Putra Malaysia at Kids Music Play workshop which was organized by Toy Library in Subang Jaya, Malaysia with the objective to increase opportunities for parents to bond with their children through music. Furthermore, Joel also performs and plays the piano as a church pianist at his hometown, as he is a firm believer that his musical talents are from God and therefore aspires to use music as a tool to help and touch people's lives with his God-given talents.
Currently, Joel is a third-year student of Bachelor's in Music Performance at the Music Department in University of Putra Malaysia, majoring in Classical piano under the guidance of Mr. Wong Chee Yean. He is also the current President of the Music Students Committee at the department.
