Thailand

Thanisa Durongkaveroj is a pianist, music educator, and tech startup worker who tries to find a happy medium between the different worlds she lives in.
From 2019 to 2021, Thanisa was a music and creative writing teacher in Hua Hin, a beach town just south of Bangkok. There, she was an active member of three elementary schools and her music classes ranged from singing to songwriting to music appreciation. She strived to meet her students where they were-- welcoming their input and applying musical knowledge to each of the songs her students brought into the classroom. The same approach went for her piano teaching as well; she gave her students the freedom to choose songs and helped her students discover the best ways to learn them.
On the weekends, Thanisa could be found playing the piano in a pop-jazz band at Cicada Market. She also often brought her students to sing with her as guest singers.
Prior to her role as a teacher, Thanisa was a Producer for a documentary TV program, broadcast on MCOT 14. The show spotlighted seniors who led active and exciting lifestyles, to inspire senior lifestyles in Thailand. In her free time, Thanisa would be learning about current music trends by transcribing Thai songs for a music streaming platform.
Thanisa is a graduate of Oberlin College and Conservatory in the US, with Dual Degrees, B.A. in Political Communication and B.M. in Piano Performance.
