The University of West Alabama鈥檚 College of Business will welcome alumnus Brad Bolton to campus on Feb. 22. Bolton is chairman of the Independent Community of Bankers of America (ICBA) and will speak to students and guests in Bridges Auditorium at Wallace Hall. The talk is open to the community.

Ashlee Barnard never intended to become a firefighter. After graduating from high school, she considered her next chapter essentially set: enroll at the University of West Alabama, become a Tigers cheerleader and pursue a career in athletic training, one of UWA鈥檚 most popular and professionally successful degree programs.

Bill Poole may have been born in New Orleans, but Alabama鈥檚 western regions decorate his life. He hails from Marengo County. He graduated twice from the University of Alabama, including its School of Law. He represented much of Tuscaloosa County for a decade in the Alabama Legislature, where he helped shape the state鈥檚 public education budget.

The University of West Alabama Board of Trustees has approved the naming of the athletic field on campus in honor of alumnus and trustee Terry J. Bunn of Tuscaloosa. The naming comes as the athletic field and Tiger Stadium undergo major renovations and upgrades planned for the coming months. The most visible upgrade thus far is the new synthetic turf.

The University of West Alabama has announced that Kylee Koch will lead the varsity cheerleading team, filling the vacancy as the team prepares for summer cheer camp in July. Koch is a 2019 graduate of UWA and will continue her studies in pursuit of a master鈥檚 degree in integrated marketing communications. She brings to the role seven years of cheer and tumbling coaching and instruction, as well as a career focus in communications.
