Students in the University of West Alabama鈥檚 welding certificate program recently received a boost of confidence when officials from a national shipbuilding operation visited campus to assess their skills. When tested, 75 percent of the students passed the test and were offered a job with Huntington Ingalls Industries.
Bailey Anderson of Hurley, Miss., was crowned Miss Paragon at the University of West Alabama on April 10. The freshman nursing major is the daughter of Eddie and Shelly Anderson. The pageant is sponsored by the Blue Key Honor Society at UWA.
The University of West Alabama was recently recognized as a 2017 Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation.
The University of West Alabama will honor more than 500 graduates during spring commencement exercises on Saturday, May 5, during two ceremonies. Both ceremonies will be held in Pruitt Gymnasium on the UWA campus, with presidential receptions open to all graduates and their guests held prior to each ceremony.
