University of West Alabama Athletic Trainer and Instructor Erin Miller has been selected by the American Sports Medicine Institute in the recently established R.T. Floyd ASMI Athletic Training Residency Program. Announced by Dr. James R. Andrews of the Andrews Sports Medicine Orthopaedic Center, this highly competitive program will train the next generation of physician practice athletic trainers.

The University of West Alabama has announced a fall concert on campus with featuring Sammy Kershaw on Friday, Sept. 10. A limited number of general admission tickets are available for $35 and can be purchased online. Proceeds from the concert benefit renovations at UWA’s Tiger Stadium.

The University of West Alabama’s spring graduates from the Ira D. Pruitt Division of Nursing have all now completed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for Registered Nurses with a 100 percent first-time pass rate for the spring graduating class.

The University of West Alabama leads a partnership that has just been awarded $744k by USDA for an agricultural innovation and sustainability project benefitting east Mississippi and west Alabama. The project is funded by USDA on the successful heels of a preceding project similar in scope.

The University of West Alabama has announced more than 600 outstanding undergraduate students named to the President’s List and the Dean’s List for the spring 2021 academic semester. Students on the list are from 18 states across the U.S. and abroad.
The University of West Alabama held spring commencement exercises on Saturday, May 8, in Tiger Stadium, with President Ken Tucker conferring undergraduate, master, education specialist, and doctoral degrees to students of the colleges of business, education, liberal arts, and natural sciences and mathematics, the division of nursing, and to the school of graduate studies. The nearly 700 students in the graduating class represent some 25 states across the U.S. and abroad.

Through this special opportunity, UWA will allow students to transfer seamlessly and earn academic and housing scholarships at UWA as they continue their studies in pursuit of bachelor’s degrees.
