The University of West Alabama’s Center for Conservation and Agriculture will host an Agriculture and Conservation Celebration on Earth Day, April 22, at ALFA Environmental Hall from 1–5:30 p.m.
The University of West Alabama has joined with AT&T and Alabama Power Company to announce the slate of speakers and featured panelists for the Alabama Summit on Rural Innovation and Entrepreneurship, set for Friday, April 17, at Bell Conference Center on the UWA campus. The event features a stellar slate of entrepreneurs who bring unique perspectives to address rural Alabama’s need for building an economic development and entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The University of West Alabama is paving the way for community college students to transfer seamlessly and earn academic and housing scholarships at UWA as they continue their studies in pursuit of bachelor’s degrees. Since the beginning of the year, UWA has announced partnerships with four Alabama community colleges and four in Mississippi, with more expected soon.

Event expected to advance economic, small business, entrepreneurship and rural development across Alabama
Dr. Michael Young will identify the “DREAMers” and the movement they shaped at a public lecture set for Feb. 24 at Bridges Auditorium at UWA.
The University of West Alabama will host an exhibit of works by woodturning artist Bill Hubbard beginning Feb. 20. The spring exhibit will be on display on campus in Webb Hall Gallery. An opening reception will be held at 2 p.m., and the public is invited to attend.
The University of West Alabama has announced more than 400 outstanding undergraduate students named to the President’s List and the Dean’s List for the Fall 2019 academic semester.
UWA fall 2019 grads

The University of West Alabama held fall commencement exercises on Saturday, Dec. 14, with President Ken Tucker conferring undergraduate, master, and education specialist degrees to students of the colleges of business, education, liberal arts, and natural sciences and mathematics, , and to the school of graduate studies. Nearly 1,000 students in the graduating class represent some 26 states across the U.S. and abroad.

The University of West Alabama will honor a record number of nearly 1,000 graduates during fall commencement exercises Saturday, Dec. 14. The undergraduate ceremony begins at 10 a.m. in Pruitt Gymnasium on the UWA campus. The graduate ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m., also at Pruitt Gymnasium. Presidential Receptions will be held prior to each ceremony and are open to all graduates and their guests at 8 a.m. and noon in the Bell Conference Center.
